Conservation and management of Danube floodplain forests

The objective of this project is to preserve the remaining natural floodplain forests and to introduce a sustainable forest management  through the preparation of new forest management plans, the designation of new nature reserves, the inventory of local genetic resources for afforestation, the  removal of invasive tree species, the training of the forestry and conservation personnel, the communication with land owners and an awareness campaign. The project is implemented by NGO Regional Association for Nature Conservation and Sustainable Development  (BROZ) , the State Nature Conservancy of the Slovak Republic (Štátna ochrana prírody SR) the Administration Unit Dunajské Luhy and  Nationalpark Donau-Auen (Austria) funded by EC LIFE – Nature
