The area 'Lange Luss' is the only segment of Morava river, which has not been changed by flood control measures. It still includes temporarily flooded meadows. By now it is part of Natura 2000 and RAMSAR protected area. The Lower Austrian League for Nature Conservation and the NGO Distelverein are engaged in the protection of this area to save the site for many rare species, especially meadow breeders and tadpole shrimps. Some fields have already been successfully renaturated into meadows.
