World Heritage Site Lednice

The cultural landscape of Lednice-Valtice is a world heritage site in southern Moravia. The artificial landscape has been formed by the ruling dukes of Liechtenstein with castles in Lednice and Valtice. There are many habitats for Geoffroy's Bat and lesser Horseshoe Bat. The surrounding ponds and the rivers Dyje and Morava house rare species like the Danube Crested Newt and the Thick-shelled River Mussel. Corncrake and Common Snipe prefer the wet meadows. The region is important for invertebrates like the Great Capricorn Beetle, Cucujus cinnaberinus, the European Stag Beetle and the Hermit Beetle.
