This area is a cultural landscape in the German Lowlands near Prignitz with streams and wetland, meadows, alleys, hedges and clearance cairns. It is an important resting and breeding area for birds like Black Stork, Ortolan Bunting and Berwick's Swan or Montagu's Harrier and Nightjar. The rather natural stream Stepenitz provides good conditions for European Otter, Great Crested Newt, Spined Loach, Salmon and Thick-Shelled River Mussel.
