Oasis of nature in Green Belt Styria
The wet meadows of Kutschenitza floodplain east of St. Anna am Aigen in Styria are important habitats for butterflies (148 endangered butterflies like the Dusky Large Blue) and connected with valuable dry meadows. The Austrian League for Nature Conservation Styria preserves this natural refuge by continuous management for threatened species that have become rare because of the intensification of land use. Furthermore the NGO purchased 20 plots of land in 6 protected areas in the region.
