Karavanke Mountains

The central part of the Karavanke ridge in Slovenia consists of well preserved and developed mountain ecosystems of the south - eastern calcareous alps from Alpine valleys up to the mountain tops (Alpine grasslands, chasmophyte vegetation, calcareous screes and dwarf pine complexes). Main problems are the abandonment of grassland, intensive mountaineering and the long-distance pollution.
