The hills and terraces between Pinka and Strems are characteristic for the southern Burgenland near the Hungarian border. The river Pinka houses one of the last populations of the Schrätzer and the biggest one of the European Otter. The wooded hills pass over to open cultural landscapes with orchards, hedges and meadows, habitats of the rare Yellow Lady Slipper. In the eastern part of the river Pinka there are rich floodplain meadows with the Snake's Head.
